We are super excited to be starting a new project that will bring together a community to support each other to tackle food poverty in an innovative way.
The wonder box idea originates in Africa where tribes would cook by burying food and using residual heat as their fuel. We know from our work with local families that often hard decisions have to be made between heating, eating and cooking and we believe this will be one of a number of solutions.
The wonder box is made largely from recycled materials, therefore good for the environment, and can be made in the community, teaching sewing skills. Alongside this is the opportunity to develop healthy nutritious meals and learning how to cook cheaply and effectively. We are planning a pilot to bring people together to make the dream a reality.
