St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge provides emergency accommodation to women and children who are fleeing domestic abuse.
Following our landlord’s decision to serve us with a notice to quit after 15 years, we are having to relocate and find life-saving accommodation and furnish it as well.
We need to provide safe and secure accommodation to women and children. The families we work with have suffered severe Domestic Abuse, and are at high risk of further abuse.
Domestic Abuse includes physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse, forced marriage, and honour-based abuse, within the context of an intimate or family relationship.
Domestic Abuse has a range of devastating effects on both women and children.
Our aim is to support recovery by providing safe, secure, nurturing, and homely places for the women and children to stay. Specialist staff provide appropriate, responsive, and timely support and advocacy which enables and empowers the women and children to recover and live a life free from violence and aggression.
