In the last 13 years, Agilitynet has celebrated the success of handlers and their dogs who have moved up a level at a Kennel Club or UK Agility show by sending out more than 8,000 Winning Out Certificates. This year, we had a record number with more than 1,800 applications for 2017 Certificates.
The first ones went out in 2003 when John Leslie and his big white Standard Poodle Bill won out of Grade 1 at Scunthorpe. Other than the odd ‘congratulations’ from friends and club mates, there was nothing to recognise his achievement. So that's when we decided to do something about it!
Originally the Certificates were produced in-house on the office printer and enclosed with the help of friends and family. But that’s when there were only 200-300 Certificates per year!
They have become an greatly anticipated event on the agility calendar - an opportunity for handlers at all levels to ‘boast’ a bit. Many people tell us that they frame their certificate(s) and quite a few are presented at Club in front of all the members.
This year we unexpectedly found ourselves without a sponsor and, although four lovely sponsors - CSJK9 Specialist Food, Guardsman/Athag, Xtra Dog and Wes Lo - have stepped up to cover the cost of design, print and productions, we are still short of money to cover the postage.
And that's where you come in.
Over the years, a number of people have volunteered to make a contribution towards the cost of the certificates and so we are asking for a small, completely voluntary donation towards the cost of posting. sorry but the amounts you see are the defaults and can't be changed. Anything from £1 will be gratefully received.
We will not be keeping a record of who contributes or not.
The Agilitynet Winning Out Certificates are A4 in size, printed in colour on good quality card and personalised for each handler / dog pairing. They are sent out in February, at no cost, to individuals who have applied on-line.
Agilitynet the web site is a hobby web site gone mad. It was set up in 1998 by Ellen Rocco and John Leslie and won the DPA Internet Directory of the Year in 1999. It is without a doubt the largest and most visited Agility web site in the UK with more than 6,000 visitors per day and an average of 306,197 hits per day. (August 2017 Google stats)
Agilitynet has fostered two spin-off Facebook pages for general agility chat and training days and is about to launch an app.
