The Whitrope Heritage Centre is run by the Waverley Route Heritage Association and has existed for around 20 years preserving and promoting the history of the Borders Railways, and particularly the Waverley Route. We have a small museum and running line at Whitrope and are open to visitors, school groups and railway enthusiasts.
Unfortunately during lockdown we have repeatedly been targeted by vandals, who have smashed windows on our trains, broken into our museum and damaged stock on site.
We are a completely voluntary organisation and rely on donations. However fixing the damage caused and installing the security systems needed at such a remote location is expensive and we need your help!
We know times are hard, and we would rather not have to ask for financial help when there are so many other priorities, but we believe passionately in what we do and are determined to continue to preserve our railway history at this unique and historic location.
Any contribution which you can make will be greatly appreciated and when the damage has been repaired we hope to welcome you soon in happier times.
