At White Court School, we are extremely proud of the reputation that has been earned of a school that provides only the best for our children. With high quality teaching, dedicated staff and supportive parents we have been able to sustain these levels of ‘greatness’.
Unfortunately, as no doubt you are aware, budgets across education are extremely challenging and the future of school funding is one that causes significant concern. These budget cuts and funding shortages result in White Court School being able to provide only the essential elements of our curriculum obligations and being heavily reliant on our amazing Friends of white Court fundraisers.
We pride ourselves on achieving the best ‘bang for our buck’ and squeeze every drop out of our minimal budget. We do not wish to be making continual requests for financial assistance to parents to enable us to provide aspects of the education of their children for which there is otherwise no budget provision.
Our particular current concern is to be able to provide the environment to support the delivery of education in this digital age. We aspire to providing EVERY CHILD with a device to significantly enhance their learning.
Unfortunately, our Information Technology (IT) infrastructure needs to be overhauled and the hardware and software brought up to date. Our target is to raise £100,000 for this purpose.
This project will have phases of implementation to ensure longevity, sustainability and ensure we can continue to deliver high quality education:
Phase 1 – purchase of 200 devices for 1 between 2 key stage 2 children including storage trollies. Upgrade wifi and servers to accommodate new devices.
Phase 2 – purchase of 150 devices for 1 between 2 key stage 1 children including storage trollies. Upgrade classroom display equipment (Interactive Whiteboards)
Phase 3 – Purchase of additional devices to ensure one for EVERY child.
The project will need to be carefully managed to ensure we meet the current needs of our children while the new and updated infrastructure is implemented.
The computer room used by the children is too small to fit a class in so will be refurbished to become a music studio, further enhancing our curriculum provision.
No doubt the children have expressed their frustration that the time taken to access the online facilities is extremely slow despite the valiant efforts of our IT support team. This programme of replacement will eliminate the waiting time and lost learning time!
Thank you for your time.
