Project aim
To provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people in London to discover their inner resources.
About the project
As part of the Youth Takeover festival @RichMix London, and in partnership with Hackeny CVS Talent match, PeaceBeats is proud to be putting on two workshops followed by a special event where the subjects explored in the workshops are expressed in short films, music and spoken word. Both the event and the workshops are targeted at yong people aged 16- 24 who are likely to have come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The aim is to support young people to explore their own resources and capacity to experience well being and contentment.
What’s Your Peace?
PeaceBeats Workshops: August 6th & 7th, 1- 4pm
The workshops explore the questions: Do you ever wonder what your life is all about? Have you ever felt the need to have your own peace? Or, have you ever felt the need to express your feelings, but never really knew how? The workshops also give participants the opportunity to express these feelings and questions through spoken word, poetry, singing or songwriting.
What’s Your Peace?
PeaceBeats Event: August 17th, 7- 11 pm: Free Entry
Participants from the PeaceBeats workshops will showcase what they have learned, performing alongside their mentors and other high profile artists. The line-up includes spoken word from Mr Gee, live music from Jordan King and Katey Brooks, Beatboxing, DJ’s, and short films on peace.
The audience can expect great music and poetry, good vibes and a side serving of peace!
WE need to cover all the musicians & mentors expenses with a small payment as well as costs of filming the events so we can produce a new promo for PeaceBeats. We also need to pay for the flyers, promotion, and AV hire. Hope you can help this great project to be launched at Rich Mix this summer.
