We wish to raise funds to support the election campaign for Jon Cousins, prospective Green Party MP for the Wells constituency.
The money raised will be used to support the campaign and this will include:
- Funding the £500 deposit candidates must pay to take part in the General Election;
- The design, production and printing of publicity, e.g. banners, leaflets and posters;
- Advertising in the local press;
- Putting on events across the constituency, e.g. public meetings
In Jon, we have a fantastic Green Party candidate, who has always lived in Somerset. For the past 12 years, he has worked tirelessly within various local charties to support the community, helping local people set up projects and local businesses and in so doing, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community, who have suffered from the severe cuts to the voluntary and third sector imposed by the current government.
Jon said of Somerset that, "We live in possibly the most special and unique place on the planet, with our incredible history and heritage, beautiful countryside, and strong sense of identity."
On being a prospective MP, Jon said, "Speaking as a local Somerset person, born in the Diocese of Bath & Wells, it will not only be the greatest honour, but a huge privilege to serve this community - and put the concerns and wishes of our families and neighbourhood first - working together; with and for you - as your first Green MP."
We wish to raise money to try and level the playing field between traditional parties who are generously funded by wealthy individuals and corporations, and the Green Party, who is more dependent on small individual donations.
We would love to hear from you too if you would like to help with the campaign, please contact Chris Briton: Email firstname.lastname@example.org
