Hello! I'm Jess - chief baker at Little Bee Bakes. I love to create real sweet treats to spread a little bit of joy, one parcel at a time. Baking has got me through some pretty tough years of anxiety and depression, it's my escape from life and something which brings me so much joy. There's nothing I love more than turning the radio up, putting on my apron and getting lost in mixing up brownie batter.
Little Bee Bakes was set up as a stop-gap to help me through a tough time in my life. It has helped me more than I could have thought, and what started as a temporary thing has turned into something amazing.
It does however mean that the one cupboard and one fridge shelf that belongs to the business, based in my parent's kitchen, has become a little bit small to keep up with demand!
Our neglected garage is set to become Little Bee Bakes headquarters and I cannot wait. The groundwork is soon to begin and I'm so excited to show you all around once it's begun and finished.
The new kitchen will allow for the development of new recipes and bakes, and the return of the much loved millionaire's shortbread. It will allow for the subscriptions to keep on growing in number, meaning that more people will receive cakey joy to their doorsteps. Most excitingly, it will become a space to hold baking workshops, so that I can help others to find their love of baking too.
We're looking to raise funds for the fitting out of the kitchen, to make it the best we can do for everyone who buys from me and who comes to learn to bake.
The money raised will go towards a new double oven, as well as equipment such as a microwave. Any additional funds raised will go towards baking equipment, tables and chairs and making the place feel like home.
I'm so thankful for all the support that I get for Little Bee Bakes and hope you'll all join me on the next part of my journey.
