The aim is to install an irrigation system in our poly tunnel to help with the watering during the day (especially in the half terms!)

Who are we?

We are Mounts bay academy poly tunnel club in Penzance.

What we have done so far

The poly tunnel was in an unusable state at the end of last year. Since then it has been recovered and bought back to life with the help of students/ teachers. There are now plants in there and it looks alive. As you can see from our pictures there has been a real change.

What are we aiming to do with the money?

Time is very restricted with so much going on at the school that it can sometimes be difficult to get in and make sure the plants are getting enough water (sadly over a holiday we lost a lot of our crops.) Especially in holiday period where access to the site is not always possible or people are away on their holidays. With the help of this crowd funding/ grant bid with Calor we will be able to install a watering system, build the types of benches for it and buy some water storage (which will store rain water) containers. all of which will help us to keep our crops well watered and flourishing. The poly tunnel will come alive even more benefitting the school and local food banks where we intend to donate some of our produce. This is not going to be possible without your help so please give what you can and share far and wide. Thank you in advance to all that support us and spread the word.
