WAPPY in partnership with Ealing Libraries is hosting a Quiz Night to engage young people, families and households in the pandemic crisis.

What is WAPPY?

Described as the “United Nations of Children” by internationally acclaimed poet and literary critique, Professor Benjamin Zephaniah, WAPPY is an established social enterprise, founded as a community organisation with Ealing Council funding in 2008. We develop the creative expression skills of young people (4 to 26 years), from diverse cultural backgrounds, (through afterschool and holiday workshops), and train them to be skilled performers of their creativity, which they will later have published, exhibited or recorded. WAPPY also provides research and artist-interviewing experiences for our members, training and volunteering opportunities for anyone seeking work and career progression. Some members who have grown up with WAPPY also volunteer with us.

Previously sponsored by Arts Council England, Help a Capital Child, Bogle L’Ouverture Publications, Big Lottery, Near Neighbours, the LMA, Brunel University and Random House Children’s Books (UK), and backed by several key public figures including, Benjamin Zephaniah, Baroness Eaton, Dr. Rupa Huq, MP, Eric and the late Jessica Huntley and actor, Will Mellor, for more than a decade we’ve been able us to make a difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with; from varying socio-economic backgrounds with a complexity of needs such as autism, childhood cancer, refugee children, Looked After minors, child bereavement and more

Since the March national  Lockdown WAPPY has resourcefully shifted its face to face workshops and community events opportunities to regular online child and teen-centred offerings including a creative expressions contest to support young people and families during the Covid 19 pandemic crisis, with limited funds. To extend our reach in order to support families and young people and encourage intergenerational fun and togetherness, we are running a Quiz Night in partnership with Ealing Libraries so the funds will contribute towards volunteer expenses, prizes and a guest entertainer for the event, as well as contribute towards the cost of materials for the practical aspects of the online Lockdown Life sessions. Ealing Libraries are contributing a round of 8 questions & answers  with an Ealing theme and during a short interval we will have Rhythm & Blues singer, actress & activist, June Tuitt sing one of her amazing covers!

The above video demonstrates the positive impact WAPPY is having on its participants and wider community it serves, which your funds will help to consolidate.

Thank you for your support!
