We are a young theatre company dedicated to creating work with a social impact and a purpose. This topic is close to our hearts as everyone involved has either suffered from an eating disorder themselves or known someone intimately that has, meaning that we are working on this with not just our minds but with body and soul too. This is our second production as a company, although collectively we have years of experience creating and working in theatre.
Thanks to some very brave people we have stories and words from real people who have lived with eating disorders, some more extreme than others, and have used the words and events in these stories to create honest, new characters. This method protects the identities of the sources as well as offering more creative freedom to the actors in terms of characterisation. We have created a 50 minute script aimed at adolescents and young people which we intend to tour to schools, local theatre venues and town halls. The focus of the script is entirely on the words and stories that are being told- the actors are acting merely as a mouthpiece. It is moving and hard hitting in places, highlighted with subtle lighter moments. The piece not only raises awareness of the reality of life with an eating disorder but also speaks about the support available, signposts to local healthcare providers and eating disorder charities and encourages hope in recovery.
How Can You Help?
We have some very powerful and hard hitting stories that need telling but without sufficient funding we will be unable to tell them. Your money will go towards paying our talented cast and director, paying for insurance and other fees as well as printing and other incidental costs. We are working on a low budget so any donation you can give will go a long way.
