Our time in Calais

We have just got back from Calais.  The Homes for Winter workshop was a hive of activity.  The first day we worked 26 homes left the workshop and over the 4 days I think the workshop produced in the region of 50 homes.  The homes were being used by between 3 and 4 people so that is between 150 and 200 people provided with a better place to sleep during our short time there.

We also spent time on the distribution of the homes in the camp itself.  Once distributed the refugees were given a hammer and nails and they knocked together the flat pack kits.  It was so satisfying to be involved in the production of the kits and then see them being put up immediately by refugees.

We also visited various people in their finished homes and it was clear how the structures had improved the conditons for them.

Thank You again for the financial support.
