My name is Chloe, I'm a twenty-year-old Dental nurse living and working in Hitchin Hertfordshire. I've been dental nursing since leaving school, qualifying February 2017 currently working at Bancroft dentistry and sister practice Essential dental. I'm very passionate about dentistry and enjoy all aspects of my Job, gaining a vast amount of experience in dentistry over the past few years, I'm keen to share my knowledge with those who would benefit from it most and can't wait to do so in Kenya! Dentaid is a worldwide charity providing free dental care to those who need it most. Nurses, dentist and hygienists can all take part in volunteering programmes where they provide pain relief, preventive treatment and oral health education to poorer areas of the UK and other poor, still developing countries such as Kenya. In Kenya we will be working alongside a local dentist in the town 'Nyahururu', as well as travelling to outreach clinics. We will carry out screenings and treatments for adults and children in schools, churches, old people home and remote community building. Sometimes we may have to work outside using portable equipment and pressure cookers for sterilising where there is no electricity. Whenever we can we will be educating the people in Dental health, running fluoride varnish programmes and supplying toothbrushes. Over the past year I’ve been holding events in and around Hitchin aiming to fundraise my trip and donate towards the charity Dentaid. I’ve held events suitable for both adults and children these included car boot sales, coffee mornings, local fun day, bingo and a waffle morning will be coming up very soon! The Waffle morning will be my last event. I’m still £500 short of my £2250 target and so I’m now reaching out to crowd funding.
