Growing up with a less than perfect upbringing meant that, after years of spending Christmas alone, I had grown to dread the festive period. However, instead of me staying bitter, I’ve made the choice to channel my energy in a positive way, by giving people the gift of love, warmth and happiness. After all these years, I would love to build an unconventional but great family this Christmas!
My vision in all that I do is to let everyone I encounter know this simple message - I hear them, I feel them, and I want to help them see the future with a positive outlook.
Voice of the Voiceless is all about raising awareness and sharing the stories of those in our community that are ignored and shunned every single day. It’s heartbreaking for me to see rough sleepers on the streets of London, day in day out. Christmas time is even more challenging, because I know what it’s like to feel so alone, at a time that is all about family.
So, instead of turning a blind eye and pretending not to see, I will spend 15 days as one of them. I want to feel their pain, share their story and try to understand what they are going through. I will spend the 15 days in different areas of London, vlogging my journey, meeting as many people as I can, spreading love, understanding their experiences and making new friends.
The ultimate aim of the project is not just to hear their stories, but to also raise enough money to create a Christmas to remember for 40-50 homeless people. The money raised will go towards hot food over the Christmas period, warm clothing and other essential supplies.
No one should be alone at Christmas and everyone has a story to tell. So please help me become a Voice to the Voiceless.
