Help bring disabled accessibility to Voice FM!

Build studios with disabled accessibility and replace the transmitter link equipment.

We did it!

On 29th Mar 2017 we successfully raised £1,177 with 30 supporters in 28 days

 Our Aim:

Build studios with disabled accessibility, update the playout system, replace the transmitter link equipment to solve output issues and get better sound.

We Are:

Voice FM, a community station set up to service the Southampton area and create media opportunities for young people in the area.

We provide a range of shows from traditional Drive Time to specialist shows for any music taste or interest.

What We Do:

We are not your average community station: we’re current, fun and relevant. We make it our utmost priority to enable young people to get experience and skills. That is why we have strived to create an all inclusive radio station where you will feel supported and welcome regardless of your background, gender, age, ethnicity or level of ability.

The Team:

Kevin has been working really hard, moulding volunteers into professional presenters, as well as Voice FM what it is today: a voice for our community.

We rely almost entirely on volunteers to keep the station going, with around 100 of them participating in the life of the station at any point in time. They keep coming back because Voice FM provides them with support and encouragement they need to build their confidence.
It is the volunteers that make Voice FM what it is and they are the reason the station has been the success it has been in the past years.

Our volunteers come from all age groups and walks of life, but there is a big gap we are desperate to fill.

We want to expand our reach and live out our mission statement, be inclusive to all and further engage the disabled people in Southampton and make it possible for them to fully participate in the life of the station. Having studios that are accessible for them they can finally get the most of their time with Voice FM and experience the station the way it is simply not possible to at the moment.

Will Aston: "If there was a studio with diabled access, I could come in and do my show. I would be able to have disabled co-presenters that I know and would be able to do interviews with the community."

Here are just a few of our volunteers, and what Voice FM means to them:

Things That Money Can Buy:

- A studio rebuilt on the ground floor of our premises that will enable us to equip it with disabled accessibility;
- Update the playout system to match the industry standard to improve training opportunities;
- Replace the link transmitter equipment to fix sound output issues and interference.

We have the knowledge, expertise and drive to make sure this happens, but we need some help from you - our listeners and neighbours. Our rewards will give you an opportunity to experience the station you helped change for the better or get a little something from our sponsors. You won't be disappointed!

Thank you for your continuous support and generous donations.

With love, the Voice FM team.
