We did it
On 22nd February 2018 we successfully raised £210 with 9 supporters in 49 days

Les and I have been given a wonderful chance to visit Tasibeh Girls School, in Pakistan at the beginning of March 2018.  We will be volunteering our time to help out at the school.  Les will be looking at developing some teacher training and leadership support with the staff. I will be working to help to support and develop systems within the office and work with the girls to develop play and basic sports activities.  I will also be taking photos and collecting stories throughout my journey.  A Celebratory event will be organised in Rotherham to mark 10th Anniversary of the Tasibeh Girls School. At the event, I will be sharing these stories and photos.

We are really looking forward to this unique opportunity.

Tasibeh Girls School is a school for girls in Pindi in rural Pakistan. The school opened in 2008 and aims to provide basic and free education for girls from poor families who would not otherwise have access to education. There is no free government school in the area.

The school is supported and sustained by funds raised in the UK by the charity Tasibeh Girls School Fund. The charity is based in Rotherham and has support from across the South Yorkshire community. The majority of the funding comes from private individual donations and fundraising events across Rotherham community. It costs about £14,000 a year to run the school.

The school currently has 170 girls on roll and now educates at both primary and secondary level. The educational focus is in both English and Urdu and a curriculum model based on UK teaching learning methods.

The increasing number of students generated the need to build 4 additional classrooms. The classroom build were funded and completed in 2017 by the charity. We are now looking for funding to help furnish and equip these classrooms. Currently, the children are sitting on the floor and do not have the proper resources and equipment to benefit effectively from the learning experience.  We are seeking funding to purchase desks, cupboards, tables, whiteboards, books, teaching aids and basic play and sports equipment.

“If it hadn’t have been for Tasibeh Girls School, I would not have had the opportunity to learn to read and write and make new friends” Saba age 9

“I like to come to school as I get food treats every Friday. It makes me so happy” Amna age 5

I have set this page up to help raise funds for the trip, hopefully I can take some additional resources out to help the school whilst we are out there. Even a small amount can make such  a huge difference to learning experience for the girls attending Tasibeh Girls School.
