This book, Vampires & Badboys, is the 2nd book in a series continuing from Kate Perry’s first book entitled The Girl Trapped in the Musical.
These books are inspired by Kate’s love of musical theatre, writing and drawing.
The stories centre around a girl who enjoys escaping into a world of musicals, away from the real world, only to find herself trapped amongst good and bad characters.
Kate’s first book was originally written due to a fear she had for the future, of her parents moving house and her anxieties surrounding this. Her fears of returning home one day to find that her parents have moved away without her and Kate’s love of escaping into her imagination.
This second book is a continuation of the first but is more of a coming of age story, where our hero (the girl) deals with leaving the musical world behind.
Both stories have been written and illustrated by Kate Perry.
Foreword from the book:
Kate loves thinking about fantasy worlds and this is what drives her creativity. I have now known and worked with Kate for several years, helping develop her ideas and guide her creatively with her projects and have seen her develop and grow as an adult and artist. She has become incredibly prolific and confident, from the shy and unsure creative that I first met to the ambitious and talented artist that I now know. Both of these books are a direct reflection of her as a person and her interests and fantastic imagination.
