The Vallis School Association (VSA) is raising money to redesign and refurbish the Vallis First School Library - please read our story below...
Our fundraising goal this year was to raise the money to redesign and refurbish the school library. Unfortunately due to Covid-19, all our usual methods of fundraising have been cancelled, so we are going online instead!
Vallis is very lucky to have a dedicated library where books can be shared and read. The goal is to turn the existing library space into a magical, bright, exciting and inspiring place which children look forward to going to and will create a lifelong interest in books and reading.
A local artist and a local architect from our parent body have worked together with Nick Firkins, our Headteacher, to come up with plans to create a woodland/planetary themed library with a large rocket with room inside for children to sit comfortably; space inspired murals on the walls; planets hanging from the ceiling made by each class; inspired lighting; an area for a class to sit; new space themed flooring and new shelving. Our goal is to raise money to make these plans a reality.
We launched our project on World Book Day 2020, but shortly afterwards the school had to close to the majority of pupils due to the lockdown. The VSA has had to cancel the school disco and annual Summer Fair, the main fundraising event of the year. So, we’re changing tack and over the coming months we will do more virtual events that the school community can get involved with and support our project through our VSA Facebook Page.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for your support and donations - we are very grateful.
The VSA Committee.
