We are starting a monthly Artisan Craft Market in the heart of Poole.
We believe in supporting local talent and small businesses, and this showcase of artisan makers will provide the community and visitors to the area with a regular opportunity to interact with these artists in a very meaningful way.
The market will include loads of stalls featuring a varied cast of local artists and creators, craft workshops for all ages, skills demonstrations, a cafe space, and the Make!Geek Community Fund raffle.
Our aim is for the Urban Artisan Market to become a fixture on the local social calendar. We are really looking forward to working with the team at the Old Town Community Centre to host a quality monthly event that brings the local community together.
Quality Local Products
In today's High Street-dominated world, it can often be a challenge to find a gift or product that's truly special. That's why we believe in supporting local creators to reach people who really care about buying unique, quality items close to home.
The Urban Artisan Market aims to introduce the Poole community to a myriad of local producers right on their doorstep. Through trading products, sharing skills and knowledge, and getting to know each other, everybody at the market can create lasting relationships and build a strong community of shoppers and makers.
As local artisan creators ourselves, we know that Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas are home to a thriving creative community, who would love to be able to make use of a regular platform to sell their handmade products, promote their skills, and build relationships with regular customers.
A regular, local market in this large urban area is a perfect opportunity for anybody with an artistic talent to hone their skills, make sales, and gain valuable business experience.
Your funding will go towards improving a great many aspects of the market, in order to make it the best it can possibly be.
When hosting an event such as this, all the little costs can really add up. We need to raise £500 to cover the cafe equipment & stock, signage, decor, venue hire, training and more. With more funding, we will be better equipped to make the Urban Artisan Market a regular fixture in the community - so please consider making a pledge and investing in its future!
Risks and Challenges
Our first market is set to be held on the 7th April, which gives us a very short timescale! However, we know that there’s no time like the present, and we believe in the power of a deadline to keep us motivated.
Starting from the ground means that getting our name out there is a challenge. With our combined experience in events organisation, creative arts, catering and business management, we are in a great position to put our skills to use and really bring our ideas to life.
Our funds are low, but with the help you can provide through Crowdfunder, the Urban Artisan Market will quickly become self-funding. This way we will be able to generate an income for a regular fixture on the Dorset craft scene, and many more exciting ways to help the community.
