I’m starting a Master of Social work degree at the University of Derby. The course fees are £7000 per academic year, I’ve been award a social work bursary but that will only cover half of the fees. I’m hoping to continue working alongside the degree for as long as possible but I’ll struggle to pay for both fees and living costs for me and my daughter.
my daughter is the reason I want to complete the degree, I want to be able to provide for her and also show her you can achieve all of your dreams if you apply yourself fully.
I've always worked from leaving school, but never felt I was achieving all I could. I’ve always pushed myself to achieve more. I’ve completed a degree in education studies with SEND pathway, but found myself jobless during the pandemic. I started working for a local care company, providing care in people’s homes, and although I love the job, I still feel I can do more. Social work is a very difficult yet rewarding career and I’ve passed all interviews and gained a place for this year’s cohort. I want to continue with the degree but I need help reaching my funding targets. Any help, no matter how small will go towards contributing to achieving my dreams.
