Under My Skin
In January 2015, I set out a goal, to write a book about women and their tattoos. I had a story to tell about my tattoos--and I was sure other woman had stories too.
Through a dynamic collaboration with Firth Photo and Romane in Light, we have opened our first exhibition with interviews, photographs and a film.
Over the last year, we have interviewed 19 women about their tattoos.
The stories were so engaging that we have created an exhibition to share their personal journeys and their decision to express themselves through the ancient art of tattoo. The exhibition opened on 1st March 2016 at The Gate Neighbourhood Community Centre in Forest Gate, Newham, UK.
All the interviews, filming, travel, printing, framing and preparation for the exhibition have been paid through our personal savings.
Now, with so much interest in this project, it is time for us to reach out to the general public for support to bring share this body of work with further exhibitions and to create the book.
You can visit the current exhibition at The Gate, neighbourhood Community Centre, E7 0QH, until 30th April.
Thank you for reading this, sharing it, and supporting this project.
