This pandemic has shone a light on areas where more support is needed within the community, and the UCKG HelpCentre has endeavoured to do more by providing support to help those in need. One of the ways the HelpCentre achieves this is by the use of Food Banks and Soup Kitchens within the community.
We currently run the UCKG Food Bank in Hackney, which provides emergency groceries for members of the local community to be used at home. We have seen the importance of this work in recent months, receiving over 575 visits, making use of the service since the turn of the year, attendance of which continues to increase weekly.
While we are glad that we have been able to help many in the Hackney area, we would like to offer more to the community and those in need as a result of these difficult times. Therefore, we plan to open, in addition to the Food Bank service we already run, a Soup Kitchen as well, meaning that hot meals and soups can be freshly prepared on the premise and served to locals every Saturday of the year.
This is where we need your help. In order for us to operate as a Soup Kitchen, we need to raise the funds that will cover the costs of the works and installation that will be done. Therefore, we kindly ask for a donation to contribute towards the total cost of the £6,000 we would need to do this work.
We believe that together we can reach this target and help those in the community who are in need. We appreciate the consideration and hope that you will be able to support the local community in this project. Thank you in advance for your kind donations!
