I have worked in TV for over 20 years and have always loved the excitement of the industry.
When I took some time off to have my first child I found myself at a crossroads when it came to returning to work. I wanted to continue working in TV but I didn't want to work the 42 hour weeks I had been previously.
I decided to work as a transcriber and set up on my own as a freelancer. There was a gap in the regional market and so I jumped in feet first.
Transcribing enabled me to work the hours I could, around my son, and gave me a reliable income that I was in charge of. Since then I haven't looked back and have built a successful company providing transcriptions to the UK broadcasters.
I wanted to set myself a new challenge and have set up a training academy to teach those that want to get back into work the skills I have learnt.
So many parents have children starting school and desperately want to get back to work but often their requests for flexible working are turned down.
Creating talented transcribers that can work for themselves, from home is my aim. I will work to develop those skills and get them their first working projects that will help them then build a career in TV transcribing.
