It costs £500 for a deposit to field one candidate in the UK general election. Support democracy by helping us provide the option to vote Green in Newham.
Labour has held sway here for over 100 years. Voters are angry and disappointed but they think there is no other safe choice. So we have a low turnout, terrible public services, more and more homeless people, spiralling rent costs and the worst recycling record in the UK mainland.
Not only that, but Labour don't want us to have freedom of movement with the EU any more. And we can't rely on them to offer a second vote on whatever Brexit deal the government gets. We want to get the message out that the Green Party is a better, safer choice than Labour.
Greens will guarantee a 'soft Brexit' - maintaining freedom of movement, capital, goods and services throughout Europe. And we will offer the people of the UK more control - a vote on whatever deal is agreed.
We are proud to offer people the chance to vote Green in Newham but we won't accept donations from big corporations or tax avoiders. So all we have is people power.
Chidi says: "I used to work as a trader. I was assaulted and subjected to humiliating racist insults for daring to act ethically. I have seen at first hand how the banks hurt people in their merciless quest for profit. And we can prove they have hurt the people in Newham by misselling. Who better to stand up for the people of Newham than somebody who knows all of the big banks' dirty tricks?"
Mike says: "The Green Party is the only party living in the real world. The other parties are living in a fantasy where they burn the world for profits for the super-rich. I was born in Newham and I've lived in East London all my life. I know the people here. And they need to know this."
We need to raise £1,500. This money will go towards the deposits for Mike and Chidi, and spreading the Green message through leafletting, canvassing and events.
Donate today:
£20 can reach 100 undecided voters on Facebook
£60 can deliver 1,000 leaflets to target voters
£250 can pay half of a candidate's deposit.
Our members have already been working hard to meet most of our costs. But we need a final push from all those supporters and activists out there who believe in the UK's membership of the EU, in equality not poverty, in social housing and people before profit.
By making a donation you confirm that you are eligible to make political donations in the UK. In basic terms this means that if you are giving more than £50, you must be a registered UK voter. Donations must not made for or on behalf of any other person. All donations received are subject to the regulations of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.
