We are a small one form entry primary school which has greatly suffered recently in the cuts to school funding and struggle daily to provide the tools and equipment our children need for their basic learning needs.
The cost of protecting our children from covid has also had to be absorbed by ourselves.
Extra Curricular activities are the first to suffer and our fantastic team give up lots of their own time to run bike and sporting activities to keep our students physical, social and mental wellbeing as healthy as possible. This is vital as we have a higher than average number of children with special needs (20%) who will benefit the most as there are many therapeutic positives about the chosen equipment.
To help with this and also allow the wider community to benefit from using the school facilities, it is our goal to build a Trim Trail to help develop the children's fine and gross motor functions, encourage them to play together and develop strong relationships.
Physical exercise and benefits to mental wellbeing, especially important after lock down and now being in class bubbles. Lots of competitive sport has had to stop but the school still ensures running Daily Mile, cycling and scootering to school, sports coaches at lunch time, biking training and other opportunities lots of physical education and outdoor learning during this unprecedented time.
The Trim trail consists of balance beams, traverse challenges, hurdles, and up and over bars all designed to maximise children's physical development.
