I'm a second year student nurse that has lived at five different addresses in the last year. I'm fortunate enough to be the last cohort to get the NHS bursary to support me through my studies but between that and my student loan I get approximately £7000 per year; rent, bills, travel and food soon absorbs that (not to mention pre-existing credit card debt). I've tried working alongside my degree but keeping up with the academic demands and working on various nursing placements means I'm struggling to fit it all in.
I'd really like to buy an old transit van, that I can very cheaply convert (hopefully with the help of some handy friends) into something good enough to live in. I'm certain that the cost of tax/insurance/fuel will be less than what I would be paying out on rent each month.
I don't want to go into my third and final year of my nursing degree with the unsettlement of moving every few months. While I appreciate this doesn't seem like much of a fix, I know I'll feel more settled going home to my own space, even if it is a van. I lived in Afghan for two and half years, and if I can live in a tent in the desert long term, I can probably handle a van in England.
The smallest donation would be so appreciated, if 1,500 people donate £1, I'll get there! Or 3,000 people donate 50p! Or 6,000 people donate 25p!
I've secured somewhere to live until April 2018, so I've got about three months to get this sorted, then I'm hoping to live the vanlife dream.
Thank you for reading, please help if you can xoxox
P.S. I AM SO EXCITED TO DO THIS, IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN MY LIVING ON A BOAT IDEA (which didn't pan out)
