Tools For Empowerment - Help Us Become Independent

We aim to raise the necessary funds in order to purchase tools and continue our project in a new teaching space.

We did it!

On 10th Mar 2018 we successfully raised £1,090 with 39 supporters in 28 days

Tools For Empowerment is a Not-For-Profit designed to teach power tool use to women, trans, non-binary persons, and to support clients within mental health and homeless sectors.

T.F.E are now nearly in the position to run courses in an independent teaching space in Bristol and across the UK. HOWEVER, we are currently short of some basic equipment that  inhibits us from skill sharing.

We have now purchased portable work benches and hand tool kits with funding from LUSH  and the help of Axminster Tools, yet we  are still short of funds to purchase the equipment necessary to run the courses.

This is because we have no funds!

With funds we are able to run the kind of beneficial community support projects that are increasingly less available due to austerity measures and a lack of funding through government bodies.

In the summer of 2017 we successfully worked with a group of women at a hostel in London supporting women with mental health needs ( photograph above). We ran a workshop at the housing justice festival at CAT, and workshops for women and LBGQTI and non-binary persons at the Bristol Wood Recycling Project. We were able to do this through borrowing equipment, however running future courses  cannot be offered whilst we need to call on people to borrow tools.  Borrowing equipment makes facilitating courses difficult, and unsustainable, as it means we cannot ever guarantee the running of any course.

We have so many courses to offer and organisations interested in working with us, we just need to raise £3000 to purchase the drills, impact drivers, a chop saw, sanders, jigsaw, router and safety equipment necessary to teach.

With this equipment we will be able to facilitate courses that empower individuals, counter gendered limitations, and encourage a mind set of skill sharing and community resources. We have done this successfully for five years and we wish to continue to do this in the future, whilst increasing the amount of courses we offer, and increasing the amount of individuals we work with.

Please help us as we need YOUR SUPPORT TO CONTINUE.

If you are able to give, then please support through this crowdfunding page, and if not share as far and wide as you can.

Thank you for your time and support.
