I’m currently a first-year student at Truro College, studying a BTEC Sports Diploma and where I’m part of the Chelsea FC Foundation Team who compete against some of the top clubs in the UK (Tottenham, Luton, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and more).
The Chelsea FC Foundation team have been invited to take part in the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup, which takes place in Texas, USA. The competition is an invitational event, and it is one of the largest youth football tournaments in the world – where many of the next generation of pros are to be found (Beckham & Rooney both played there in the past). I will be playing against some of the best players my age, and I will be watched by professional scouts from all over the globe.
The trip is two weeks long over the Easter break, and consists of three days in Boston and then eleven days in Dallas – where I will be taking part in the tournament. I’ll be staying with an American family for the duration of the time I will be there and it’s obviously a massive opportunity for me as I have loved football all my life. To get the opportunity to play in one of the biggest tournaments in the world is a dream come true for me.
As you can probably guess, the trip is pretty costly (just short of £2000 all in) and mum & dad are helping out with some of this but I need to raise/earn the rest of the funds myself. It’s a huge chance for me and I don't want an opportunity like this to go to waste, so I’m opening it up to friends & family help out and offering a few ‘rewards’ to encourage you! The wider team are doing various fund-raising events to help with some of the additional trip costs, and we also have formal sponsorship opportunities for businesses big or small (if you are interested in sponsorship, please contact me through the Crowdfunder site)
Thanks for taking the time to read through the story, and I hope you can help. I really value you any support you can give.
