Anything extra we raise can go towards taking the press further: we can potentially commission independent artists for book covers, feel safe in the knowledge that a few more print runs have been covered, pay for six more months on the PO Box upfront, or set aside more ISBNs for books into 2017. Everything donated will be used to make Three Drops a better place to be published.
Three Drops Press is a small poetry and fiction publisher in Sheffield, England. It was born in early January 2015 as the webzine Three Drops from a Cauldron, as a result of founding editor Kate Garrett's lifelong love for literature and folklore/mythology/legends and fairy tales. In just under a year, Three Drops has published on the webzine four times a week, featured interviews and reviews, released two paperback specials and two seasonal e-issues, and gained a loyal readership. Three Drops Press also puts on semi-regular live events at The Three Tuns, Sheffield's 'most haunted' pub, and has recently opened for pamphlet / short manuscript submissions. We have so far scheduled three poetry pamphlets, a short prose fiction collection, and an original fairytale novella for publication in 2016.
We need a relatively small minimum amount (£500) to start publishing single-author books in a way that maximises the payment we can give to our writers. Funding will get things rolling with purchasing ISBN numbers, renting a PO Box just for the press, and print runs for the first few titles - while using a print-on-demand site has been convenient so far, it is not best value for money, either for readers (costly shipping charges) or our authors (because the POD service takes far too much of a cut). I (Kate) would (and will, if necessary) make all of this happen on my own, but as a working mother of three on a low-wage (who currently runs Three Drops completely voluntarily), I can't lie - I'd be very grateful if lots of people could club together with what we can all afford to help the press.
Continuing literary / legendary output from Three Drops Press, fun gatherings, launches and events, and the reward of your choice - anything from a thank you on the website, to a book dedication of your very own, to a magical cauldron full of poetry goodness. There are lots of rewards to choose from, and even a backing of £1 helps and gets you our undying gratitude (and a permanent mention on the website).
