Following a lengthy but successful fundraising campaign, Thornham Village Hall was opened just under three years ago by H.M. the Queen to great celebrations in the village. We are a registered charity. We have a strong team of volunteers raising funds to increase the activities on offer and helping to organise a wide range of events for all the community.
We run a Children's Club during the summer, a Soup & Sandwich Club for older residents in winter; Satellite theatre and Cinema run year round, as well as Craft Fairs, Exhibitions and a Village Fete. We also offer weekly Pilates and dancing classes, table tennis and bridge. Our sports facilities go from strength to strength: in addition to a thriving tennis club, the village football team has been resurrected and our cricket team has just won promotion.
Thornham Village Hall lies in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and we are committed to ensuring that our activities are as energy efficient as possible, to be in harmony with our surroundings and protect them for future generations. To this end, the Hall already has ground source heating, grey water re-cycling and excellent insulation.
In the course of seeking to provide an ever increasing variety of activities for the community we are wary of increasing our carbon footprint. We are keen to install solar panels as another source of renewable energy, to ensure the continued environmental and financial sustainability of the Hall. Please vote for us to help us secure funding generously offered by M&S Energy.
