Thorner Trees Project
We did it
On 15th December 2019 we successfully raised £8 with 1 supporters in 28 days

Planting trees is one great way to help with the climate emergency. I am aiming to plant at least 500 trees in my village by 2025.

I can't stand by and do nothing while human activity is causing a significant increase in extreme weather and with it the destruction of human and wild habitats, ecosystems and species.

England’s woodland cover is only just over a quarter of that enjoyed, on average, across the rest of Europe and the North of England has the lowest tree cover in the UK. Trees are known as an excellent tool in carbon capture as well as having many other benefits such as reducing soil erosion, increasing biodiversity and improving wellbeing.

Inspired by the Woodland Trusts Northern Tree Project, my love of community work and my increasing need to take action I decided i want to do the following in my village:

1) Create a community orchard.

2) increase tree cover in areas that will reduce flooding around the beck.

3) support residence and landowners to plant trees on their land

4) increase hedgerows and areas of wildflower.

The money raised here will go towards kick starting the project with its first trees and with setting the project up.

1 tree and support = £1.76

100 awareness raising leaflets = £5.50
