Green General Election campaign in Tower Hamlets!
We did it
On 17th May 2017 we successfully raised £1,500 with 34 supporters in 28 days

To support the Tower Hamlets Green Party campaign for our two candidates in the 2017 General Election

New stretch target

The Tories have sent us hurtling into a General Election on 8 June... but we're prepared. However, we still need your help to put forward our excellent candidates in our two constituencies, and get our message out.

Support for the Green Party across the UK is shows that British people want a change away from austerity, privatisation and greed towards a more equitable and sustainable society. With the UK poised to leave the European Union, we need to be speaking up for the things that matter - standing up for our European and international neighbours, colleagues and friends, keeping strong environmental regulations, and maintaining hard-won workers rights. This is why thousands of people have joined in recent months across the UK - and the numbers are going up every day!

In the twin constituencies that make up Tower Hamlets: Bethnal Green and Bow and Poplar and Limehouse, we witness the inequalities wrought by a Conservative coalition in the forms of a National Health Service under constant threat, steep housing inflation and the most vulnerable people in our local communities being made to pay for the actions of a few wreckless people at the top. We also see small business fighting a losing battle against the huge multi-nationals, taking profits out of the Borough and away from local people, and damaging the community.

Our candidates are determined to provide a voice to the people and businesses of Tower Hamlets who share our vision to create an inclusive, prosperous, safe area for people to lead productive, well connected lives.

Alistair Polson with Shahrar Ali

Standing in Bethnal Green is Alistair Polson. In 2015 Alistair came 3rd in Bethnal Green and Bow, right on the tail of the Tories.  Now we intend to knock on Labour's door.

Bethan Lant

Bethan Lant is standing in Poplar and Limehouse. In Poplar and Limehouse, we came fourth and within a fraction of keeping our deposit. We intend to press harder in this short campaign.

To do this, we need to raise money for our election campaign. This money will go directly to help us stand our candidates and ensuring our vision for a fairer future is delivered to every constituent in Tower Hamlets. We aren't funded by big donors or corporate donations but largely by small donations from ordinary members of the public. So we need your help to build a Green voice in Tower Hamlets, we build on recent support for the Green Party and work towards Green success in our historical Borough in the future.

In short, the money will be spent on:

  • Deposits for Bethnal Green and Bow and Poplar and Limehouse
  • Publications to provide a local message to residents

Please note: we cannot accept any donations of £50 made anonymously. All donations over this limit will be reported to the Electoral Commission for transparency reasons. If no informaton is available on donors, this donation will be returned.
