The Plan
Nobody likes paying over the odds at a festival for a plastic bottle full of flavoured water posing as lager... Let's face it, craft beer is better, right?
I am an amateur brewer who has been working for the past 7 years on honing my skills in a garage come brewspace. I love beer, both the drinking and the making of it. In the past I've also dabbled in pressing cider from foraged apples and made a plethora of wild wines from foraged fruit and flower blossoms. I know brewing!
What better way to showcase The Obnoxious Brewery, than to take it on the road and provide a viable alternative to the mainstream ales at events?
Now the idea isn't a new one, convert a van to sell beer, rock up to an event and serve happy people... but this time there's a spin on that formula. The beer seved from The Obnoxious Beer Bus will be lovingly crafted by the people selling said beer... the only exception to this formula will be in the serving of chilled wine, which is sourced from local and national craft brewers.
It's all about the craft!
Where will the money go?
I am looking for a total of £6000. This should give enough capital to:
- Purchase everything required to upgrade the current microbrewery to produce roughly 100 litres of beer for each
mash in.
- Purchase and 'kit out' a small van, something like a Hijet, which will be blessed with all the fixtures required to create The Obnoxious Beer Bus.
- Finalise all licensing, bureaucracy and legal elements, to ensure that it's all above board and paying the right taxes.
- Buy enough ingredients to produce the first 500 litres of craft ale (as a fully functioning microbrewery).
- Merchandising! The purchase of trading licenses for upcoming music festivals around the country... So if you'd like to see me somewhere, let me know!
The Rewards:
Be sure to check out the 'Rewards' page if you're checking us out on mobile... At no surprise to anybody, the majority of the rewards for offering have something to do with beer. The beer is an important aspect of both the microbrewery and The Obnoxious Beer Bus, so it makes sense to put focus on what I do best.
You'll notice that the higher rewards offer some pretty good deals, particularly if you're planning a wedding or hosting some kind of corporate even in the future... Perhaps you know someone that wants a unique spin to their wedding or engagement party; let me (and my help) provide a unique and quirky solution, with a variety of chilled beers and wine on tap!
Anybody opting for the alcoholic alternatives to the merchandising, will be greeted by a lovely courier, sometime in early February 2018, with the associated quantity of hand crafted bottled beer. I'll ship a nice variety which should suit the adventurous palate so you can have a little taste of the wonders you have helped to create.
Keep an eye on the Twitter feed for updates on new art and design news; these designs will be the unique art used for merchandising in the future! So if you're ordering the shirts or Beer mats, it'll likely be one of these designs that you're getting!
Finally, anyone and everyone who decides to get involved will recieve recognition on the Obnoxious 'Wall of Infamy'! You'll be forever remembered as the people who started something special.
What Happens in the Future
Future plans essentially revolve around making things work better, smoother and easier. The intitial plan is to work with the bare essentials of equipment needed to deliver a functioning business. Once the business is working and turning a profit, I'll be looking to scale up operations to brew more, transport more and to serve more beer, more often!
