The Lions Barber Collective is an international collection of top barbers which have come together to help raise awareness for the prevention of suicide.

It all stemmed from a comment on a Facebook group and within 6 weeks we had our first appearance at The Great British Barber Bash in Liverpool where members of the pride donated their time to demonstrate their skills and raise awareness about the mission of BarberTalk as well as the charities we work alongside Papyrus and Pieta House in the UK and Ireland. The Lions Barber Collective Artistic Team will be producing an annual "LOOK BOOK" in which chosen members will donate a hair image, the much anticipated collaboration will be sold with the proceeds going to our charities and future projects, training and development.

In this short time through The Lions Barber Collective huge reach on social media we have managed to create huge awareness to the cause, with that awareness ever growing and more events being planned all the time.We will attend many industry shows as well as festivals and create events, seminars and workshops to help promote BarberTalk and the work we will be doing. The Lions Barber Collective is a perfect vehicle for our Barbertalk training as we have the very best in the industry, many who have been affected by the subject in matter themselves, all with a large following ready to help spread the word and smash the taboo subject of mental health and suicide. By showing that we are willing to talk about this subject is making a huge difference already.

BarberTalk is a bespoke training program which is being built alongside Papyrus and Pieta House suicide prevention and mental health charities in the UK and Ireland. These great organisations have fantastic training programs in place already which we are working on to make them relevant to our amazing industry. We aim to create training that will enable barbers to Recognise, Talk, Listen and Advise their clients when they are sat in their chair. As Barbers we have a unique relationship of trust and friendship crossing personal space which often creates a strong bond between barber and client allowing many people to open up and discuss subjects they wouldn't usually talk to friends or family about.

We don't want barbers to become councillors, however we would love our industry to embrace the trust we have earned to make a difference and be able to become that first step on that journey, directing people in the right direction to where they can receive the help they need. Our dream is to roll this training out to all areas of the globe, creating safe places for people to go and talk about the issues they have with the people they trust, breaking the taboo and showing the world that it is ok to be not ok and to share their problems without fear of judgement.
