The Happy Pig

by markboyle in Newquay

We did it
On 11th March 2014 we successfully raised £10,980 with 223 supporters in 42 days

We aim to raise funding to transform an old pig barn into a free community event space, called The Happy Pig, at our Permaculture and gift economy demonstration project. Here we will run free courses, provide free accommodation, and have a bar where we will serve food grown from our no-dig & forest gardens, along with home-brew (making it will also be a free course!). Music, dance, storytelling and poetry will also be on the menu, along with key speakers on ecological, social, community and spiritual-based topics. All for free.

Rewards and Thanks

A chairde, friends,

Tom from An Teach Saor here. Crowdfunding, as we only found out during the campaign, is a marathon, a rather exhausting test of endurance to the finish line. But we made it, and myself, Mark and Jess are overwhelmingly grateful for the help each and every one of you gave to help the Happy Pig become a (hopefully) paradigm-shifting reality.

You'll shortly be getting an e-mail from us regarding fulfilment of your rewards. We had a huge number of backers so please put up with us as we sort the logistics of it all! We're really excited, though, to start organising courses, tree-planting, home-brewing and much more.

Hopefully, once the weather improves a bit, we'll chat to some of you in person around a campfire in the new fire-hut/outdoor kitchen we've spent the last few days building out of entirely recycled (telegraph poles) and local materials (photo below).

Hugs and massive appreciation
