The Happy Pig

by markboyle in Newquay

We did it
On 11th March 2014 we successfully raised £10,980 with 223 supporters in 42 days

We aim to raise funding to transform an old pig barn into a free community event space, called The Happy Pig, at our Permaculture and gift economy demonstration project. Here we will run free courses, provide free accommodation, and have a bar where we will serve food grown from our no-dig & forest gardens, along with home-brew (making it will also be a free course!). Music, dance, storytelling and poetry will also be on the menu, along with key speakers on ecological, social, community and spiritual-based topics. All for free.

Great stuff, I also heard about this project on the John Murray show, and I was super happy when I found out that the farm is around Galway, almost at my doorstep. Looking forward to visiting the farm, and hopefully also contributing some of my time. Just a quick idea, which might help getting to the finish line: Right now I was not able to pledge less then 10 GBP. As the month is coming to an end, people might find it tricky to donate 12 Euro, whereas 5 Euro might be more of an impulse thing. Might be worth looking into. (There is a checkbox \"I dont want a reward\", but that did still required selecting at least one reward level.)

Hi guys, I heard Mark on the John Murray Show this morning - great piece. I donated a few bob and wish you well on this wonderful project. I look forward to visiting An Teach Saor and meeting you all. Best of luck in reaching the target.

Hoping that little drops do indeed make an ocean - stone soup and all that! This is a tasty broth that you\'re brewing. Wish you all that you need. Rosanna xx

I really believe in this project as I know Tom, Mark and Jess personally and have been to An Teach Saor. It is a great project in a relaxed environment where there is real potential for wholeness, for both personal, social and in the natural environment that they inhabit (if there is a difference) and I wish you guys the best of luck. I\'m looking forward to doing yoga, eating great food, performing poetry and having great discussions in the Happy Pig.
