Who is running this project?

The Darkroom at Beach Creative was founded and is run by Emily Parris. Emily is a fine art photographer who creates art using analogue photography processes. The Darkroom at Beach Creative was founded in 2015, offering photography classes and workshops for people of all ages and abilities.

What is an Arts Award qualification?

Arts Award's mission is to support young people who want to deepen their engagement with the arts, build creative and leadership skills and achieve a national qualification.

There are varying levels to suit different ages and abilities:

This project aims to provide the young people with a Bronze or Silver Arts Award.

Has The Darkroom delivered a project like this before?

Yes! I have delivered 2 Bronze Arts Award courses, during the Summer holidays in 2017 & 2018. This provided 9 young people with a qualification to go alongside their GCSE's. The students added their progress to a shared Instragram account which can be found here:

Why are you fundraising?

Like with any not-for-profit organisations, the Darkroom at Beach Creative needs a little boost to ensure that projects like this reach their potential. External funding is difficult to come by and in turn makes it difficult to plan ahead. With your help, we can provide quality arts education for these young people.

What will this money be used for?

The money you help to raise will go towards material costs & room hire. This will reduce the overall costs for the students, allowing young people from varying backgrounds to take part in the course.

How can I follow the project?

I provide regular updates of all the projects, one-off workshops and courses that I run on The Darkroom's social media outlets. I can also provide updates via email subscription.
