The Search for a Black-browed Albatross!

In May 2017, we will be performing our debut show 'The Search for a Black-browed Albatross!' at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre.

We did it!

On 31st Mar 2017 we successfully raised £300 of £250 target with 16 supporters in 21 days

New stretch target

Woah, we didn't expect to get this far, you guys are incredible! Thank you from everyone at The Backpack Ensemble, it means a lot to us!

Any additional funds will enhance our final production value and  give us more opportunities to buy costume, set, props, marketing materials and instruments!

We are The Backpack Ensemble, a new theatre company based in Lincoln. We aim to tell relatable tales. Creating honest theatre and transporting our audience into the world of our stories. Always striving for moments of genuine, heartfelt connection.

We are nine artists who have come together to form The Backpack Ensemble. We have already started working on our debut show ‘The Search for a Black-browed Albatross!’

Show Synopsis
Tent? Check. Food and water? Check. The incomparable drive to complete your late fathers life-list? Check.
When Charlie finds her fathers old birdwatching book, she sets out to find one last bird to complete it for him, for her, and for their relationship. Join The Backpack Ensemble in a story full of music, shadows and a feathered giant.

How and When?
We are in the early stages of rehearsals and have started creating backstories for our characters and exploring the relationships between them. We have started experimenting with different styles of theatre and have found a mutual interest in the art of shadow puppetry! <<< You can see the early stages of our experimentation with shadow puppets in our trailer…

We have been utilising the space at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre to really get to grips with the seeds of our show and our hoping to hold a scratch event in April/May time before our performance on 25 May 2017 at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre.

Where will the money go?
Up to this point we have been using equipment that we own and borrowing equipment from willing friends but we would love to start purchasing products that are going to have a big part to play in our final show.
The money raised from this campaign will go towards costume, set, props, marketing and instruments. We are hoping to raise £250 from Crowdfunder and that will contribute greatly to the final show. As this is an ‘all-or-nothing’ campaign we will only get the money if we reach our target but if we exceed this and raise a little more then that would be amazing!

Who are we?
We are nine individuals who are in our third years at University of Lincoln. Meet the team and their roles! Alongside our production roles, we are all planning on performing in ‘The Search for a Black-browed Albatross!’
