I have set up a community group to get The Water Gardens in Milford Haven back to its former Glory, we have the councils backing but as a community group we do not have any funds and need to raise them to pay for materials at each stage.
The water gardens are a Chinese themed garden that were created to replace the old swimming pool, but over time, with government cut backs and the current crisis have fallen in to disrepair. The brambles have taken hold and many plants are growing uncontrolled and taking over, some bushes are being swamped by ivy and other crawlers, in other areas the lack of water is causing plants to die.
If left any longer restoring the gardens would be a huge job...but right now with funds and manpower we could have it back within months.
The water feature has been out of use for a number of years but the foundations are still strong and the water connections and electrics are still in place. Some of the wood around the garden is in need of replacement, and one of the bridges needs to be replaced. The Amphitheatre seating area was boarded with wood but as this started to fall away and many sections are now bare of wood.
Stage 1 - Clear & tidy - one of the first jobs we need to do is clear away the brambles and weeds and rotten wood, so we need a skip and tools initially.
Stage 2 - Plant & rebuild - we will have need of wood, stones, sleepers etc, to replace the wood in the Amphitheatre and rebuild the bridge etc, and replant where needed.
Stage 3 - Get the water feature operational - we will need specialists for the plumbing and electrics and specialist materials to ensure its successful.
We are working with the council, local companies who are donating materials and the community who will be donating time, and all funds raised will be spent on the Water Gardens! We will also be getting the local press involved and where possible ensuring everyone who contributes is given recognition.
Help us to get this amazing space back in shape and ready for us all to use once the restrictions are lifted.
Thank you in advance for your donation!
