The Vibe
Not quite
Unfortunately this project was not successful.

To provide an opportunity for adults with disabilities and additional needs to have a voice and make decisions about what they want to do.

by Kath Heavyside in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom

The Vibe was set up in 2016 in response to the lack of social opportunities available to adults with additional needs during the evening and at weekends.   The Vibe provides social, recreational and development opportunities to adults with additional needs.  We are a grass roots organisation that offers an 'out of hours' service and is 100% needs led by our members who all have a learning or physical disability.  The team at the Vibe is made up of members, parents / carers and support staff who are all committed to the work that we do and what we want to achieve as an organisation.  We have also started to provide our own support staff so that if members are struggling to get to activities that we are providing then, we can provide a member of support staff.  We are also developing our team of support workers so that we can support adults in the community.

Vision:

We would like to develop a steering group of our members to discuss issues that they face in their lives and how the Vibe could be developed in the services that it offers.  The group would meet regularly (either weekly or fortnightly) and would have ownership of their own group.

How will you use the money raised to achieve it?

  • Facility Hire so we would be able to meet as a group.
  • Staff Costs - this will be the staff facilitating the group and any support staff if required.
  • Refreshments.
  • Training - for members of the steering group and staff members
  • Transport costs - often a barrier for adults with additional needs due to financial or mobility issues.

Got an idea like this?

Over £100 million has been raised from our crowd to support the projects they love! Plus tens of millions more unlocked by our partners.
