A community hub
The TCR Hub is a special venue on the outskirts of Barnard Castle. It is run by a small charity, Teesdale Community Resources, and provides resources and facilities for both local people and those from across the region. We have a small staff team who facilitate the building and ensure that everyone has a great time whilst here. We also have a fantastic team of over 30 volunteers who welcome visitors to the Hub, maintain the grounds, run activities and events and drive our minibuses.
Through Lockdown
In recent months our community hub has been closed to the public and much of our team are currently furloughed. We would love to bring them all back soon. Whilst our hub has been closed we have been running the Teesdale Care Package project, which has enabled over 140 households to receive a care package of food, cleaning items and toiletries every week. We have set up donation schemes with our local supermarket, local businesses have donated their time and goods and we have joined the Fareshare scheme. All of which has been invaluable for our community and for ensuring we are meeting the needs of local people.
We will continue the Teesdale Care Package project for as long as it is needed but we need to now turn our focus to re-emerging from lockdown. We need to see people using our wonderful spaces once more, to hear families having fun and people engaging with new activities. We also want to ensure that we are still helping those in our community who are most in need right now.
What next?
Our plan is to reopen our community hub over the Summer. We will offer a number of bookable activities that you can purchase and then participate in. We will also offer the option to book an activity for a key worker or person who you feel needs some time out. By purchasing one of these activities you are helping us to plan our journey and secure the future of the TCR Hub and the charity. You are also enabling people who really deserve some care and attention the time to pause and take some time to recuperate.

By booking an activity you are giving us the confidence to know that our hub is valued and that the work we do is needed in the community. You are also securing the future of our children and young people who will be able to continue to use this amazing space as they grow up.
