What is the Local Theatre?
We’re a new theatre in Sheffield city centre. We want to make somewhere that’s a part of Sheffield, that’s for everyone in the city and the region, that supports theatre and the arts in Sheffield and the North, and that’s a lovely place to go and spend time with other people.
What’s happening at the Local Theatre?
In the theatre we're presenting an exciting programme of touring work from across the country.
We have community nights, from comedy and spoken word to knitting and boardgames.
Our friendly cafe, which is staffed by volunteers with learning disabilities, supported by our partner Artworks.
In the future we’re planning to do activities to specifically help:
Unemployed people develop skills for work.
People with mental health problems find improved life satisfaction.
What does the Local Theatre need?
We’re looking for your help so we can get the best technical equipment for our theatre, access ramps so that people with mobility needs can use our space, cafe equipment so we can offer the best experience for people visiting the cafe and theatre.
Here’s where the money’s going:
Technical equipment (lights and sound): £700
Performance space re-flooring: £700
Cafe equipment: £300
Access equipment: £300
Crowdfunder fees: 3% of above
Total: £2060
Stretch goals
We would be really happy to reach our goal! (Like dancing around the theatre happy!)
If you’re able to help more and we raise extra funding, this will allow us to work with Artworks to offer more supported volunteering placements for local people with learning difficulties.
