Campaign mission
Due to local demand Brighter Futures Zambia has embarked on a new fundraising mission to build a pre-school to educate up to 90 children in the village of Miyoba, Zambia. Currently, the children of this village attend two makeshift “schools,” one meet under a tree and the other in a church building, the two sites approximately 3 km apart.
Primary education is government funded in Zambia but pre-school and secondary education are not. Pre-school is vital for providing a platform for long-term learning and is proven to have a knock-on effect on the success of later education.
This is why we’re asking for £5,000 to help us build a school.
Why a pre-school?
Primary education for children in Zambia starts at the age of 7 years old but, due to an ongoing shortage of school places, many children don’t start school until they are 8 or 9 years old.
This can have a devastating effect on the children we support as many live in households where interaction is rare and guardians are too tired or overwhelmed to play or nurture effectively. Sadly, orphans are also more vulnerable to abuse and neglect in the home.
Pre-schools provide a nurturing environment for children as well as mental and emotional stimulation and the opportunity to play. Brighter Futures Zambia has supported the set up of 3 pre-schools in the Monze district, funding training for pre-school teachers and providing equipment and books.
We are aiming to raise the funds to build proper structures to house our pre-schools which will enable them to grow and help even more children.
Your donation
We already have some of the money we need to build our school through charitable donations and friends of the charity, we’re now looking for £5,000 to make sure it happens.
If we’re as successful as our previous fundraising campaign The Good Goat, and we exceed our donation target, all the extra money will go towards other valuable Brighter Futures Zambia charitable causes.

We really appreciate your support in helping us make a brighter future for orphaned and vulnerable children in Zambia, which is why we would like to reward your donation.
£5 – Personalised thank you post on Facebook

£50 - E- Christmas cards designed by the children for you to send to your friends and family

A little bit about us
Brighter Futures Zambia works to provide orphaned and vulnerable children in Zambia with a happier, healthier and safer present – plus a more secure and fulfilling future.
We are a UK based charity founded by sisters Katie and Jennie who were inspired by their trips to the area where they met and worked with the Buntolo group who provide care for children (especially those affected by HIV/AIDS). BFZ was set up to raise funds and support for the Buntolo group and other projects working with children and their carers in Zambia.
