The Riverbank Park Project
We did it
On 27th June 2019 we successfully raised £80 with 3 supporters in 55 days

To include all - no child should be left out - we aim to provide an all inclusive park for the whole community - for good health+well being.

by THE RIVERBANK PARK PROJECT in Gatehouse Of Fleet, Scotland, United Kingdom

This started out as one mum on a mission( myself) to get better play facilities in the area for my young children at the time, i didn't realise we would end up campaigning ,raising awareness and reaching parliament to have a motion raised to congratulate us on our work so far - a group of parents were then formed and a team of volunteers and local groups joined us on our fundraising quest, we have had so much help and support with our own fundraising events from auction of pledges to sponsored bike rides, handmade items sold ,school bake sales face painting ,raffles, tombolas, gala parade donations, donations  from some local businesses and much more - we are on the last leg now and really need your help financially to get our young people of Gatehouse of fleet their  wee dream.Through our own fundraising and funding applications so far we have secured $67,000 - our total required to build this dream is £86,000 - we are so close - we would love your help.

Gatehouse of fleet lacks facilities for the younger generation, the project is aimed at providing an all-inclusive park in the heart of a social housing area, to provide better opportunities for the community to come together.

The wider community will have access to accessible play and fitness equipment. It will also bring people of all ages and abilities in our community together.

Different generations will be able to come together using equipment that will help promote good physical and mental well-being whilst building strong relationships in a safe, well-equipped environment.

Taking the all-inclusive approach, we will be able to offer children with disabilities an opportunity to join in and enjoy playing and socialising within the town - our vision is to include all - no child should be left out - we plan to grow our own community garden and build our own sensory area with the help of our group volunteers.

Because of our ruality ,the project will be the only inclusive play area within a 14 mile radius.

It will enable people of all ages and abilities to come together in a safe play/physical activity area.It will encourage inclusion, inter-generational working and also improve the mental health of young people through physical activity provision, a deeper understanding across the generations will develop and a sense of local pride and respect of others will unify different groups of people.

We plan to work with the other local community groups  as well and make full usage of the park for fitness boot camps, days out with toddler groups, story telling sessions meet and greet with the older generation, and much more.

Another key outcome of this inter-generational accessible facility will be a reduction of anti-social behaviour from younger generations and an increase in tolerance of young people from older generations.

With this dream project we will enrich the lives of the young people and their families within the area and beyond and leave a legacy for our grandchildren and their children to enjoy, taking community ownership of this project we will teach our children what we can do as a team , as a community if we all work together this we hope will teach them great life skills for the future.

Please vote for us and please donate no matter how small - every little helps - us get closer to this dream becoming a reality.

Thank you so much from - The team riverbank park project xxxx
