Our stretch target would enable us to offer the project in a second location this Summer, and work towards our ultimate goal of raising awareness and funding to support six weeks of PSSA Projects for 600 children in 2020.
WHO ARE WE: PSSA is a London based children's theatre school. Established in 2003, we have trained thousands of children and seen many go on to perform professionally in film, TV and theatre. Whether a child needs encouragement to come out of their shell or is destined for a life on stage, we believe performing arts offer children invaluable skills for life and it is our mission to ensure every child has access to these opportunities.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS: With increasing rental rates and overheads we are acutely aware that rising class fees are making the arts less accessible for all. The PSSA Project will provide affordable, expert led musical theatre training and performance opportunities through the school holidays to keep children active, inspired and creative.
THE PSSA PROJECT: The PSSA Project will run as a separate division under the existing PSSA London umbrella, providing partially funded Holiday Workshops for 100 local children aged 4-16. Students will participate in a five days of expert led performing arts workshop in purpose built studios. Classes will be split into three age groups to rotate around singing, acting, dancing, musical theatre, and set/costume design classes lead by our teaching team of West End performers and industry professionals. After five busy days of learning and creating, students will take over a local theatre to perform two professionally staged productions for friends and family, giving them a taste of life in the theatre and their chance to shine.
THE TEAM: PSSA Principal Amelia is a passionate believer in the many benefits of performing arts in children. It is her dream to give back to the communities PSSA already works in and offer affordable PSSA Projects every school holiday to ensure every child can access their training and performance opportunities. Her brilliant team of teachers are all talented performers with showbiz CVs and years of teaching experience, ensuring they know how to bring the best out of your child and encourage them to reach for the stars.
THE SERIOUS BIT: By raising £5000 we will be able to offer one hundred children the chance to take part in six full days of performing arts training for just £50, payable in two instalments prior to the course date. Your donations will cover the cost of studio hire, theatre hire, and the licensing cost enabling us to charge parents a minimal enrolment fee to cover our remaining costs. Courses similar to this currently charge £120-£300. We will be charging parents just £50.
It is our mission to inspire children this Summer by offering the chance to develop confidence, feel inspired and develop their performing arts skills over the Summer. Please help us give every little star their chance to shine.
Thank you,
Amelia & the PSSA team x
