HELFER PRODUCTIONS in association with THE SCRIPT READERS presents... THE OLD ROOM
The Old Room was inspired by the documentary film Citizenfour, which shows us why Edward Snowden made the decision to blow the whistle on US and UK government surveillance. With recent news developments surrounding Cambridge Analytica, it is clear that data harvesting by major corporations and governments poses a huge risk to our safety and privacy as citizens.
The Old Room is a bar where people meet, sometimes by accident. It’s also a memory of a place in Prague where Sam used to go when he worked at the British Embassy; a place where there was desire, betrayal and a honey trap. Now Sam works in cyber security helping to fend off attacks on people like 4C, a political lobbying organisation.
We've managed to raise over half of the money for the costs of mounting the show. However, we are working with dedicated creatives who are putting a vast amount of time and energy into the project. From the page to production, and design and direction, there are 10 people working on The Old Room. It is important that everyone is paid an equal wage which represents their hard work and time dedicated to the project. We've got a few incentives to offer, including a cyber-security check and free tickets to see the show.
