Creating a hopeful future for this Hastings icon after 34 years of dereliction

by Adam Clements in Hastings, England, United Kingdom

Deadline extension - please help spread the word!

Hello OB peeps.

We have extended our deadline with the kind folk of Crowdfunder until early May and we’ll be going hell for leather to build support for the campaign in the coming weeks, with new locally sourced rewards.

Here are some updates from the team:

Textile artwork

  • We have received expressions of interest from textiles artists for the wall hanging which will feature supporter names. Applications are still being received – please email us to submit your idea.

Volunteer with us!

  • We will be holding a volunteers workshop on 15 May: let us know if you’re interested in volunteering by emailing info@theob.org.uk

Window wonders coming soon

  • We have been designing display windows for our Cambridge Road entrance and a model of the OB going up in late April. Image below courtesy of Robin Crowley, model maker.

On life, peril, community and photography: in conversation with Cathy Teesdale

  • We interviewed Cathy Teesdale, photographer and tenant of Rock House. Cathy is also one of our wonderful crowdfund reward donors, and has recently taken part in Four Lenses, a project run by four local photographers to document the Observer Building’s spaces, people and narratives. Read the full interview in the next edition of Hastings Independent Press which comes out tomorrow!

Please help us spread the word about the Crowdfunder – we are looking for small donations and messages of support to show bigger funders that the community cares about the building and its future.

Thanks once again for your wonderful support of the project!
