Naya is an innovative, grassroots initiative aimed at empowering women to improve their community environment in the Mumbai slum of Kalwa.
Naya is supported by the Gabriel Project Mumbai and has been running since May 2016. Naya has been successfully training and employing women in the slum to hand-make recycled paper, creating beautiful new pieces using imagination and skill. Product sales support the initiative, as well as develop facilities and awareness around waste and recycling within the slum.
We have reached a point where it is clear that to move forward we need some further investment. A relatively small amount of money will allow us to maintain and develop the initiative, employ a local supervisor and establish Naya as a fully self-sustaining local enterprise.
By supporting Naya not only are you creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for local women, but you are also helping to tackle waste and environmental pollution in the slums, improving the lives of the entire community.
Naya is proudly supported by the Gabriel Project Mumbai, a locally based charity who provide advice and local expertise. We now need your support to get Naya up and running sustainably!
