ILAS, Chile, is run by a group of psychiatrists and psychologists who have worked in the field of mental health and human rights. It provides psychotherapeutic care to people who have suffered political repression during and after Pinochet's dictatorship of 1973.
Over 40 years have passed since the dictatorship and ILAS still receives victims of torture today for psychiatric help.
There are at least 50 permanent patients at ILAS today and only last year another 20 approached ILAS. This number is on the increase and we need your support to enable us to continue our work.
People who have never talked about their political repression or torture until today use ILAS as their only means of psychotherapeutic care, as do the relatives of disappeared detainees, executed politicians, political prisoners, victims of torture and exiles, they all form part of ILAS.
