I grew up in the East part of London from a tender age and lived there for most of my 20's. My love for food, but most importantly a healthy approach to food began since I was young about early teens. I have always believed in the transformative power of food and the zest of life it brings to you and your palate. Always found quality delicious food to be a great source of inspiration and creativity.
As a food enthusiast, there are joyous memories of my childhood where I remember all 5 of us (dad, mum, 2 brothers and myself) conjugating in our small kitchen whilst food was being prepared, talking, laughing and teasing one another. Food was what brought my family together despite our busy lives. You see, we were separated for a while, mum and I lived in London for the most part whilst, dad and the boys lived in Africa. We only got the chance to reconnect and live as a family when my siblings and I were teens, food helped us to bond.
My memories also take me to the local market (that was ever so smelly and chaotic) where you could get anything from fresh fish, meats, poultry, snails, Veggies (before farmers markets became popular) African food and your regular Sainsbury grocery shop, kitchen appliances and much more. There was a Swiss store that sold everything from kitchen gadgets to female lingerie and baby things, and there were expensive! However, my mum was so obsessed with the store and always came home with kitchen gadgets that were useful in the kitchen I must say! Cooking was a constant in my home, I mean fresh cooking every day as my dad was an absolute food fanatic, with his giant self and a huge smile. He will always dance around when he could smell food being prepared. I honestly, believe my love food comes from him as I would watch and assist in the kitchen during food prep. He taught me a lot of kitchen skills I use today, whilst my mum exposed me to different flavors of spices and herbs that were also beneficial for the body.
As a family, we were kind of prone to be on the heavier side, so we consciously ate healthy thus, adopted a pescatarian-ish lifestyle, thanks to my dad and his love for fish.
Fast forward to now, due to my own health upheaval in the past, I knew I had to be conscious of what goes into my body and how I managed day-to-day life. Thus, for a while now I have been tweaking my nutrition to support me in living my very best life. Must say I have found amazing results. This inspired me to introduce the world the Keto to the public.
